No, the card does not show up on another computer. I tried on a pc as well. I can take pictures with my camera and get them on my mac using EOS utility. The card is a 280x 2gb card. the card reader is 2 years old.

I agree with Tim. To me this sounds like an issue with the card. I use SanDisk Ultra II's, Extreme III's, and Ritek cards.

Apple has realeased an update for OSX Tiger. It adds raw support for the 1D mark III.
