Taken during a rainy day in Manhattan.

Really like the PP in number 3, dodge/burn tool to get it the dark feeling?

The first and third really grab my attention and make me think. Both are very good compositions. And as usual your signature PP style comes through. thanks so much for sharing with us.

That first shot is really cool, I like the anonymity of the subjects.

Great shots... well except for no2, you didn't even bother to remove the car window from the lower-right corner. I think that's more of a P&S ;)

Pio, why do I get the feeling you are hiding out with your camera and waiting to see some guy with a poncho hide under that doorway? :);)

The last shot is amazing. I haven't used an umbrella much in the last few years living here in VA. But in NYC, a must. The cheaper, the better. :) And the smell of the city after a rain is still stuck in my head. Thanks for capturing these.

Agree with Adam ... and I don't get what picture 2 shows. She is walking with what looks like an empty bucket, so why the strength and resolve? Was it a hurricane or something?

I notice all your shots here are 800x533 ... is that intential and if so why? I am only thinking it must be because I might have cropped a couple different but that would impact on the sizes. I don't print shots so maybe it relates to a print size.

Thanks all! #3 seems to be a favorite - my friends here like it best too. What I especially like about it is that you can see the man's hands clasped together underneath the poncho.

Suzy, you're right about the umbrella. Here dozens of umbrella vendors pop up at the first drop of rain. Umbrellas are cheap here, some as low as a buck-fifty but you get what you pay for in most cases. I'm happy with my hotel-filched umbrellas -hey, they get free advertising whenever I use it right?

Ah, at last a couple of comments on #2! Thanks guys. I did shoot this from a car window as I was maneuvering to park (I was lucky to find a spot quickly in this part of Manhattan). As I was backing up, I noticed this lady coming up so I stopped the car, extracted the camera and managed to fire off a shot as she passed by.

I must admit that I thought the photo was junk when I saw it, but I am just amazed by this lady. The buckets she is carrying are containers to deliver freshly made tofu. These buckets are a fourth to nearly half full of tofu and water when being delivered, everyone knows that tofu has to be immersed in water to keep it hydrated. Three buckets of that and I could only imagine the weight this 60-something year old lady must be carrying. And in the pouring rain even!

But she is not the main reason that I did not junk this photo. I kept and posted it because of the second lady in the picture ;)

Dave, I like the ratio because it is close to the Golden Mean :) Actually, it does make printing easier - I have several 'clients', actually private acquaintances that purchase some of my photos. What they do with it I don't know, perhaps they put it up on their door to scare people (and solicitors) away!

I do understand what you mean though, as letterbox framing would look really good in some of my photos. I'll crop a few soon.

Thanks for looking all
