What are you using in your Mark lll?
I tend to always go overboard on memory card size and speed.
How do you shoot? Do you send shots to one card or both?
Can you tell me which CF and SD you are using?

Is there a big difference between the SD and SDHC? I am about to order one from B&H but cannot decide because I don't know if the difference matters. Like you, the SD will be for JPEG's only.

recording speed

note: you can not put SDHC cards into normal card reader. They need special card reader which is supplied when you buy this type of SD card

And size. SD only support up to 2 GB. SDHC supports more than 2 GB

Btw the othe day I tested read speed from the cards to my pc and I definately think Extreme IV is worth the extra money if you value fast copy to the pc.

With a 4 GB Extreme III HD Tach timed it to 14,6 MB/s when using a SanDisk firewire 800 connected cardreader. On a generic USB2 the speed was merely 2,9 MB/s

With a 8 GB Extreme IV HD Tach timed it to 41,9 MB/s when using a SanDisk firewire 800 connected cardreader.

So the camera may not be able to take full advantage of the speed but when transferring to pc it is a significant difference.
