I can't find it. I give up.

And it's probably a house sparrow or something common like that

You can take my 100-400 L away when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.

Hmmm... doesn't look like a sparrow. With the color and beak, I'd venture to guess a House Finch. But it's just a guess.

Still, it's a great photo. And even 'common' birds are beautiful!

it's a beautiful shot Scottes

I ' think' it could be a Warbler
either a Willow Warbler or a Garden Warbler
?!
( not sure though)

maybe try under = family/ Sylviidae

Nope, definitely NOT a house finch. I'd stake my reputation, not that I have any to risk in the first place, and say it's a bunting of some sort, maybe an indigo bunting.

BTW, that's a nice shot for justabrownbird. :)

Bingo! Jerry wins I'd say.

The bill is so distinctive the way the top continues up the head. But the "pale throat" per Sibley's was one point, but the other key point is that the brown-head cowbird often flocks with blackbirds. Checking other photos from that date I find that this was taken at my favorite haunt for RWBs.

Thanks for the comments. It's a bit busy, but I do like this shot. Must be the "regal" pose I guess. :)

The BHCB was my first impression but a BHCB is a lot bigger than a sparrow or a finch so one usually won't mistake it for a sparrow or finch just by the size alone unless one were to think, "My, what a large sparrow or finch that bird is". So I still think it's a bunting. ?!

[edit]OK, I concede defeat. The overall color just doesn't jive with a bunting. Jerry's probably right. Good thing I don't have a repuation to speak off. 8) [/edit]
