I am currently working for this particular airline and just got news of this little incident with one of the Beech 1900D's.

Undercarriage failed to deploy, and the aircraft made a diversion to an alternative more isolated landing strip near Blenheim (was bound for Wellington).

No one hurt, except for the plane (phew).

If you are going to be in a plane crash...that is the kind to be in....can't beat a happy ending! Great photo...love the pieces and parts flying off...especially knowing everyone was ok.

Photographs are records of life. Pity they don't make music when you put them in a record player. :p

I wish I could claim the glory for the shot, but it is not mine, it was one of the guys at the airport down there.

Good to hear no one was hurt. Congrats to the guy who got such a great shot. I hope he's going to give the pilot a copy.

Great to hear it ended without tragedy. Good work on the part of the pilot too, to bring it down with the least amount of damage possible.

Beats the story photo,

I'd be a bit scared sitting in front row, hoping those props don't come through the fuselage!

Wow! Great shot.

I joke with people all the time that landing a plane is really just a controlled crash.

Maybe I should stop using that joke. ;)

I wonder how possible it is for those props to end up penetrating the fusalage in such circumstance?

Just another reason I don't fly. I'm glad no one was hurt.

Great capture of the action. Glad no one got hurt, but I'll bet they were scared!
