So this is really bugging me and I would think there should be an easy solution that I don't know about. When I take shots with the camera rotated 90 degrees from normal, they do not automatically rotate once downloaded onto my computer. I have a ton of shots I took at a pageant tonight that I need to send to the photographer I was with but I need them all rotated before. Help would be much appreciated. =]

Do you have auto-rotate on in the setup menu?

I think the camera just rotates the photo so you can view it in the LCD screen on the camera. Does not actually modify the actual image file.

No, actually it does rotate them. I haven't had to rotate an image for viewing on my computer since I started using the 20D almost 2 years ago.

You need to turn on auto-rotate on your menu to fix your problem.

Not sure about the 20D, but on the 30D, there are a few options in the menu.
1. No rotation
2. Rotation on PC (when you view the image on the camera's LCD, it won't be rotated, but when you download it, it will be on the PC)
3. Rotation on PC and Camera (same as above, but also rotates in camera)

I think those are the options that I have.

Johnny, are you sure it's not your software doing the rotating? I know Downloader Pro does it.

In my 20d menu auto rotate is on. When I open the pictures in Bridge they are all the right way, but when I just look at them on my harddrive through "my documents" and "my pictures" they are not. I can highlight the ones I want to rotate and right click and tell it to rotate them all 90 degrees, but it used to do this for me.

I am not using any special software, just my computer to view. The pictures are rotated automatically for me. My auto rotate is on too.

Did you download the pictures to a directory and then look at them in the directory using my computer?

I'll try and experiment more to help you figure it out. I always shoot in raw so I need to test shoot in .jpg to see if there is a difference.

Nope, no directory I don't believe if I understand you right, as in a program. Just "my documents" -> "my pictures" and then when I see the images as thumnbnails that's my problem. =[
