My main lens for a long long with was a 28-135. I have a 15mm fish and 17-40L at my disposal. Recently I purchased a 70-200L F2.8 IS and unlike your experience I held onto my 28-135 for those days I just want to travel light. If I had to let go of the 28-135 for another lens I would buy the 70-200L. I guess your situation depends on what you shoot at the most?

Dude, what do you want to tell or ask us?
Did you sell something you wanted to keep, or what?

sold it for $330. it's just that my way of thinking switched gears when the 17-55mm became in range of my goals. i figured 28-135 covered a lot but just a little shy of the distance i usually end up shooting so...10-22,17-55,70-200, made sense to me. but yes i was really apprehensive at first but even my wife said that i have to do what was practical in my hobby.

For the same money you sold your 28-135- and it seems that you would like to go wider, I say get the Sigma 10-20mm. It is a sweet lens for the wide shots, on a crop cam (APS-C) it has the equivalent wide angle of 16mm and 32mm (2X zoom) on the long end. The Sigma coupled with the 17-85mm or 70-200 should give you the focal lengths you need. Then again, what do I know.
