Kite Surfing

What do you think about this one? I decided to use the kite to set the exposure what allowed me to get a kind of golden color for the waves.

Very nice picture. I like the wave colour too. Waves have that tint a little in certain circumstances. It looks quite natural to me

The only thing I would try is to make the surfer and the kite a bit more prominent, perhaps a bit more colour saturation on the kite and a touch more contrast overall. Maybe even find the kite strings if they are there at all? But that would just be my taste, as I said it is quite natural as it is and there is nothing wrong with that if it is what you prefer.

I would crop about half the empty space to the right of the surfer, to take him/her out of the middle and create a more dynamic compostion.

Thanks for your comment which I took into consideration but:

1. it's maybe a question of taste but to me the surfer together with the kite are the subject, not the surfer alone. Therefore the subject is not in the middle.

2. when I crop away half the "empty" space on the right of the surfer I would remove the most important wave for this picture, the one that probably will "hit" the surfer in the next few seconds.

The only suggestion for improvement I could offer, would also be the composition. The surfer is headed to the left of the frame, so I feel that if he were at the bottom right of the frame, it would be more effective. He would be the starting point, and as you look in the direction he's going, you'd see the kite which is pulling him, and the empty space would now have a purpose... the place he is going. Or you could flip the canvas horizontally? Only my opinion, of course. That may not be in line with what you had in mind for the shot, and in that case, you can consider it rubbish.

It's an excellent shot, as is your sunset, which I didn't offer a critique for, because I believed it needed no improvement.

I certainly understand the choices, and enjoy the photos. It's amazing how many ways you can see one image.
