I have a 10d and when I erase the files on the CF card, CF card in camera, the camera shows all files have been erased but when I load into PS all the erased files appear. Could this be a bad CF card or is something wrong with my camera? Thanks for any hep.

How do you erase the pics from the CF card? When you say "when I load into PS", what do you mean exactly? Maybe a step by step list of what you do will help guide responses.

Format the card. If the files still show up in the browser, right click the display box then hit refresh. This force the computer to re-read the disk. Or better, do these two steps in the reversed order. Do the refresh, then if that doesn't work, reformat the card.

I haven't had this problem with a memory card, but it has happened to me with a flash drive. I'm not sure if the two are related, but it is worth a shot. Whenever I delete files on my flash drive they are saved in a folder called "trash" automatically. I then have to delete those already deleted files that are in the "trash" folder. I can only see the deleted files on one of my computers and not the others, probably because it shows hidden files. Have you tried using different computers to see if the erased files are still showing? I don't know how to fix the problem, but maybe my answer can halfway guide you to a solution, hopefully. I doubt it is your camera that is causing it, but you never know.

I never delete files. Once I have finished the download and no longer need the data on the CF, I put it back in the camera and do a format. It is kind of a sanity check on the card in the camera.

Agree with formatting. I have a 10D as well and format every time. Had a couple of instances, when after shooting some raw and switching to JPEGs, I lost some files. Started formatting since then and never a problem.

Formatting is best for the card. It "cleans the slate" so to speak and you get a fresh new file directory to work from.

Always format. If it doesn't work on your CF card, you need a new CF card. ;)

Yes, yes, yes.

My rule - never delete - always format.

I don't even delete a picture I know is no good - I wait until it's on the computer and delete it there. Then I format the card - always in the camera.
