Also, lest any of you think I am entertaining stewing poor Scouty, that won’t happen. We are planning on dogs tonight but sticking to the fashion hot dogs, on the grill.

Wow GiljustplainJohn!! WOW! I'm so glad that this turned out well, for you and the gear (and the dog!) I'd have fainted before I made it back to check the gear

I tried several bags and really wanted the Slingshot 200 but after test driving it at my local Wolf Camera, though I could get everything in there, it was not as convenient as I though it would be. I ended up with the Lowepro Nova 5. It’s a good size bag, much more adjustable, and everything just fit so nice. I spent last night going through all the lenses doing focus tests and such and confirmed I dodged a huge bullet. Everything checked out just fine. Scouty still lives and has not been wok’ed, stewed, skewered, baked, broiled or cooked in any other manner and has forgotten the traumatic experience. Oh, and the hot dogs were great. Nothing like a dog and a beer while sitting on the back deck checking out camera gear. ;) :D

bag-nirvana, the perfection of space and partition. Yin and yang spun in complete harmony and an unworldly glow emanated as if the angles themselves had descended to gaze upon a true masterpiece

Awesome, just love it. I thought I was the only one who strived for bag-nirvana. When I got my new gear and bag I spent 2 hours organising, lining up, testing, re-organising, re-lining up etc etc until I reached bag-nirvana then it felt like everything was right in the (my) world again. I could even go as far as saying that acheiving bag-nirvana is better than se...*cough* um....well you know....:o ;)

So. . . the moral of the story? Your bag is well padded? Your floors are soft? An angel dove down and caught the bulk of the trauma before your bag hit the floor?

Thanks for the post. Glad nothing expensive (including the dog) was damaged.

I continually strive for bag-nirvana with the same bag. Every trip or expedition is just another excuse for me to fiddle with my dividers and equipment, striving for that perfect harmonious functional camera bag harmony. Good times.
