The frustrating thing is that with so many people amateur and professional reporting the fault with the 1D MKIII even if it is in a small minority that a market leader such as Canon would be a little bit quicker to investigate and make an official statement regarding the issue or at the least be making an effort to supress all the bad publicity that is now being gained by there flagship product.

If i gave the same level of service to my customers as most have experienced around the globe from Canon i would be out of a job by now and i myself have found that it is far better to be honest with your customers in the first place,if there is a problem then the least they can do is admit to it and give those of us that are unfortunate enough to own a faulty unit the reassurance that they do still care about there customers and that they are trying there best to put it right.

If I get mine back with nothing but a cleaning, I guess I'll be pounding on Canon's door for my money back? I don;t know how else I could proceed.

Jaker, don't you miss the railroad tracks simplicity of your MkII :
(1) AF activation area expansion......NO ?... YES ? 7 or auto 13 ?
(2) Tracking Sensitivity....fast, xxx..slow ?

DONE ! Voila ! Shooooooot !

I do Pete, but the problem is, I saw the images the MkIII produces :(

Not only are they just soooo much better looking, but there's this whole extra level with ISO's of 800 or higher..
With the MkII once I got up to ISO 800, I really did not like the pics.. at all.
With the Mk3,. oh man. @ 1600 there still amazing.

On top of that, I have this printer now, that lets me print HUGE freaking prints and I'm using it for some commercial stuff..
The MkIII's extra resolution s the perfect match for a print of 17" x xx (it's roll feed so whatever you want in that last spot)

So yes, I want to have my cake and eat it too.

I am sending mine back on Monday. I received the shipping label today. I have waited for the new firmware and it is still crap. If it is not fixed prior to football season, I say file a lawsuit.

I really think that's the next step. Any lawyers here with a bad Mk III. :)

If you are shooting barn swallows in full flight, and not near their nest, that's pretty good.;)

if its something like barn swallow's in flight 5% sharp would not be to bad , if its a Herron or Egrett in flight it would be bad.

Geez I thought most people would be asleep at this time...

Roli- no iam not happy with my camera. Even though it is working great, I still had too many bad moments with it.

'
Kenny- I haven't sold it yet. I decided to hold onto it for a bit longer and see how CDS's camera comes back or if canon finally do something about it.

Tommy- I don't know about you but for me 5% keeper rate is great under certain conditions. Shooting swollows in flight with the 500 is one of them for sure. Also wheb I say keepers I mean shots that I actually like and not just shots in focus. If we only talk about in focus shots I would say that my rate is closer to 40 which is still amazing.

Ok. You have to admit with recent posting about focus issue it was dificult to know if this post was meant sarcastic.

BTW - Have you closely looked at Rob Galbraith Drill (in action 35 shot burst) ?
[In his latest FW v.1.10 - page 5 - report]

For example, the burst series [named Drill] with Girl dribbling with a Soccer ball contains ~35 shots. Out of which about 6 are OOF [look closely at the girl's Vodafone logo].

Is this [%16] OOF typical to the problems reported ?
Or typical to Galbraith's most reports ?

TIA
