Sorry for being lazy but what have you guys come up with for the problems, seems like you have worked out alot of the issues.....Is it worth getting the MKIII now?

it seems like it's ending up either user error OR a mechanical defect which canon seems to be fixing when the cameras have been sent in.

Microsoft?? ;)

Sounds very promising, though I know that you'd like to try a few in the heat before you leave for Africa. Are you taking the 1D2 along as well?

Big Blue is IBM,. not that youthfull upstart Microsoft,.

and Yes, I'm bringing both Mk2 and Mk3 to Africa.

<<slapping self upside the head>> OK, as punishment, I shall pour some Laphroaig over ice and slowly drink it. :)

Good move - It never hurts to have backup anyway, and I know that you're not 100% confident in the Mk 3 yet. Or at least I wouldn't be - yet.

I don't think we can draw a lot of conclusions yet,..
We have some people that have issues that come and go with seemingly no rhyme or reason, we have some real indication that temperature/lighting may be involved,.
we have some that have sent cameras to Canon and not gotten a fix, and some that did...

I've only had one chance to try it out, so things could change but it seemed good today.

Makes me wonder if those "electrical adjustments" might include improving the heat dissipation scheme for the AF sensors or the AF processor.... Hey, slap on an aluminum heat sink and watch things improve drastically.

OK, just throwing an idea out there....

Are we ever going to hear anything from Canon regarding this problem? Or is everyone that is experiencing problems with their Mark III just going to be stuck with them? It's been long enough that Canon should either come out with a "It's mostly user error" or "Yes, there is a problem and here is the solution" Obviously people are having problems, ENOUGH already CAnon!!! Let's hear something from you

i gave up on waiting for Canon. at this point, i am just learning the limitiations of my mkIII and learning what i can and can't shoot with it. my respect for canon as a company is at exactly 0 right now and i am just counting the days till other companies starts wiping the floor with it so canon will relize that you can't be the market leader with this kind of customer service. i relize that it won't happen anytime soon but let's just hope that Canon will lose some market share and start treating it's customers with a bit of respect. i can't beleive i gave this company close to $25k over 2 years...

I was pretty dejected after getting mine back from repair the second time without anything really being done to it (other than "cleaning") and I really don't thing anything has changed with it. After getting over my depression about this I want to do some more comparison shots between the MkIII and my 20D and 5D and then decide where to go/what to do.

I did get an email from Rob Galbraith after inquiring to his site on updates and said he'd heard nothing yet. I'm hoping a couple of the high-profile cases such as his will continue to push Canon to find some resolution to what is apparently a real problem with the camera in many cases.
