I need to process/convert CRW and CR2. It appears that DPP can't handle CRW. I have been using Canon RAW Image Converter but I prefer to do adjustments to the CRW before conversion like I do in DPP with CR2. I did some research last night and BreezeBrowser appears to be a possibility. Anything else I should look at?

DPP should handle CRW files as they are Canon files and DPP is Canon software. CRW files are older so any version that handles CR2 files should also work with CRW files. That is weird.

Otherwise there are a ton of possibilites, some free, some with minimal cost, some very expensive. My personal choice is Lightroom from Adobe.

RawTherapee I've heard does a pretty good job, and is free.

If it doesn't read .crw files, just note that it also reads .dng, so you could use the free Adobe .dng converter, then use the .dng in Rawtherapee.

Well BreezeBrowser is not working. It crashes on a regular basis while working on files. I'm looking at Elements 5 on the Adobe site but can't find exactly which RAW files are supported. I'm not really interested in most of the things that Elements does.

Elements ACR is very limited, and if you're not going to be using the rest of Elements, its not worth it.

Try again with a newer version of DPP, I'm surprised its not reading your CRW's too. Or try Canon's Zoombrowser.

Did you try RawTherapee?

My version is too new. Canon has dropped support of G1 CRW. Zoombrowser works but I don't have any control of the conversion.

BreezeBrowser is working OK for me now. We'll see how it goes.

I didn't want to leave this thread as is because someone might find it later and get the wrong idea about BreezeBrowser. It works great and has solved several issues I had. The more I play with it the more I like it.

I've used more than one version of DPP (currently on v3.0.1.5) on the CRW files that come out of my 300D. There appears to be no problem so can't understand why you can't get DPP to work on your CRW files. Have you tried Canon's Support and asked the question?
