OK so I have a 1D Series camera now. WOW it is awesome. Anyways. I am actually considering selling my Canon EFs 10-22 lens for a Sigma 12-24 lens because I would be able to use it on my 1D series camera. Now am I being stupid? I know that the Canon EFs 10-22 is probably the best UWA lens and I have absolutely no intention in selling my 20D probably ever and probably will buy its upgrade when it has one. So does this sound stupid to sell a great lens for a probabl lesser one?

Is there anyone with a 1D series and a Crop camera that keeps their 10-22 lens even though it can only be used on one camera?

No, you are not being stupid. I sold my Tokina for the Sigma. Same reason. It's plenty colorful, sharp, and fast for me. But I don't pixelbate.

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

Well, hearing what you wrote,

1. That you will not sell your 20D
2. You plan on picking up the 30D successor
3. You are very happy with the 10-22

It would appear to me that you don't need sell it, and should keep it. Sure, it would be nice to pick up a lens that works on the 1D and your 20D, but the field of view is practically the same as the 10-22 on the 20D.

I don't see a compelling reason, but in the end it is totally up to you. Personally, since Crop Camera's will still stay a part of your bag, I'd say keep the 10-22 and not worry about it.

Then again, maybe I should (in a few months) just buy a Canon 16-35 f2.8 L MKI (I have lots of 77mm filters) and go from there. But that is another $400 more then my Canon 10-22 would sell for. And I lose ULTRA wide and just go down to ultra wide.:)

Personally, I don't keep lenses that don't work on all my bodies. But that's just me.

you didn't even have to buy a 50 1.2 to toss up the whole kit like we've seen a couple times in the recent past.

i have a feeling some CJM absolutes are fixin' to go out the window ;) !

Hahahahaha no a real upgrade. :) The 30D is just a 20D MKII with a bigger screen and newer software. I am looking for an upgrade like the Rebel XT got an XTi. Not a bigger screen and files that can hold 1000 pictures in them.

The 16-35 sure is tempting though. Same with the Sigma 12-24. Should I just say what the L and go for the L? Hmm or is the Sigma a better choice? Ah maybe I should just sell the 1D MKII and keep the 20D? Hahahaha

Nope, a 10mm FL is still a 10mm FL regardless of which camera it is on. Same with the 12mm FL.

Actually, 12mm FL on a 1D is 12mm.

That's quite subjective. Some may say a 1D2 is not really an upgrade of the 1D, and they, like you, are entitled to feel that way. But, none the less, it is an upgrade thus a different identity. Notice I didn't laugh you, it's immature to do so.
