Is anyone else getting a bit frustrated by the delay in LR 1.1?

I know I can use CS3 or the DNG converter to process Mark III raws but I want to use LR on the original files. I expected a week or two between ACR 4.1 and LR 1.1 but now we are approaching month. A quick update to support the Mark III would have been better in the interim. I would think that would have been a quick and easy update since it was done for ACR 4.1.

Seems as though there were a number of issues to deal with, the least of which was adding another camera or two.

The comments (as I remember them as being quoted from someone that attended the Scott Kelby seminar in Boston) was that they wanted to "get it right".

I too would like to see 1.1, but "getting it right" is rather more important to me.

However if you have work to do and deadlines to meet, I can see it is an issue.

In truth, I'm trying to put it out of my mind - I'm really looking forward to 1.1.

In answer to your question, though, yes... I am getting a little tired of waiting, but there's not much else we can do. I sadly check the forums every day hoping to hear something.

On the one hand, Adobe may be taking the time to get it right. On the other hand, it seems to prove they didn't get it right the first time, and they had ALOT to fix.

I'm hopeful that they'll do better this time, and looking forward to the changes (better be more than clarity, sharpening, and noise reduction though.) The wait IS causing me to hold off editing of my images, because I want to use the new tools they've teased us with.

I'd much rather they take their time versus coming back here hoping for a quick 1.2 to fix 1.1... This is Adobe not MS after all.. :D

Nope not frustrated at all by the delays.

But I bet if I was lucky enough to have a MKIII I'd be more than frustrated at the delay.
Hang in there mate.

EDIT: Could you not batch convert them to DNG and then import to lightroom?

Adobe have already stated that a lot of work is going into fixing the issues which showed up with such a wide range of hardware - no amount of prerelease testing was ever going to be able to test every hardware combination, but the same is the case with any version 1.0 software.

There are also new features, which are being tested thoroughly before release, to minimize the potential problems. That's not to say there won't still be bugs in the final release - the same issues apply, that you can't test it on every hardware combination, but it's being tied up as far as is humanly possible.

I'd rather they put out more updates with less time in between as they fix and add things. Why wait? Get it out the door! Call it 1.01 etc. When they fix and add enough things they can call it 1.1. Just do it. Be Like Mike. It is better to have loved and lost then never to have loved at all.

Frustrated yes.. but more so by lack of clear list of what we can expect in LR 1.1 on top of the RAW issues we have seen in ACR 4.1

Eg, are they addressing any of the catalogueing problems... if so, I will wait... if not I need to get on and sort my Library out now...

Yeah, I too have been checking just about everyday for news about the update and everyday have been disappointed. I have been hesitant to process any of my pictures because I am waiting for the new update.

I am dissapointed for sure, but not frustrated. I think I am more frustrated about Adobe not providing better support for CS2 now that LR is out. Instead we have to shell out more dough and buy CS3 even though I won't use it that much. I think this is why 1.0 had so many problems. They wanted to release CS3 but their business plan showed that it would be better to release LR first, so they did. It wasn't ready (I know Victoria, there is no way they could test everything but here me out ;) ).

So they:
Release LR 1.0. Everyone buys it but has issues, doesn't think it is complete.
Release CS3 and not provide updates to CS2 causing everyone to need CS3. Everyone buys it, but still waits for LR 1.1

Or they:

Release CS3. Everyone buys it and is happy.
Release LR 1.0 as a trully finished product. Nobody cares because they just spent $800+ on CS3 so sales stink and LR is dropped.

Which one works out better for Adobe?

OK, maybe I am frustrated. IF LR was really the one stop shop I was led to believe it was I wouldn't need CS2 or 3. Maybe one day that will be but right now it isn't and dragging 1.1s release makes it worse. I know they want to get things right but it doesn't seem like that was on their mind when they released it. (Man I sound like everyone on the User to User forums at Adobe. :o )

LR as a program is pretty slow compared to the rest of my workflow. It's quite frustrating. I'm hoping LR 1.1 has some speed adjustments, but I just have a feeling the delay for 1.1 will be awhile.

Don't be tainted by the Darkside! :)

I think I'm on the same page as you, Mike.
I like LR, and will continue using it; but still frustrated and can only guess at the reasons for the delay.

Doesn't mean we are Adobe bashers as some over there would have you think... if that were true we wouldn't be posting so much trying to help others when they run into problems with it.

It's a good job I don't have time to do all that I need to do in LR at the moment anyway.. so hopefully 1.1 will be out before I sort my life out!

EDIT: David I love your Sig line on endpanels :)

Thanks... that was during one of my particularly sarcastic moments here on the forums, when they were touting the "great" new features of 1.1 including NEW ENDPANELS! Yeah.:p
