Watching me the whole time I was working on my garden. It is sitting at the edge of my stairs to my deck. It maybe a finch (not sure), but the parents got pretty mad when I went near it. One of the adults were small and slim (brown) with what looked like a red mohawk. Any guesses?

Looks like some kind of Sparrow. Where are you located? That would help.

Could be a song sparrow, they are pretty big sparrows, or an American Tree Sparrow. They both have a reddish mohawk. The Chipping Sparrow does too, but they are just a little bigger than your thumb.
