Workflow Question - From LR to CS2

My current workflow is as follows:

Import into LR onto local hard drive and make adjustments > Export photos as .tiff files onto local hard drive > Run batch script on .tiff files in CS2 for noise and USM - this also includes anothe subfolder with conversion to .jpg files > Export .jpg files onto networked hard drive > Import folder of .jpg files back into LR !!!

I have a few reasons but at the end of the day I am aiming to achieve placing processed photos as .jpg onto a networked hard drive and have them show in LR.

Hope this makes sense and someone can provide some advice on how to improve this tedious task !

Cheers

Why not just round trip them as .psd files and then stack the RAW and .psd. Saves on several steps.

At the end of the process I need to have a .jpg file.

Have been doing some reading on droplets so this will make things a bit easier but still a lot of steps !!

I'd like yo know any more advise on this, or how you develop this work flow. Sorry I cannot offer any advise myself, but I dont have a solid workflow just now, but feel I need to. I like the idea of havng JPGs pushed out to External Storage.

When you say 'networked drive' is this with an IP/MAC address etc, or just some External USB drive?

LR is not really designed to do what you are doing. From what I have read at Adobe they believe that your final jpegs would be considered consumables. They expect yuo to do your editing in LR, go to CS2 for finishing touches, save your jepgs for final output and then THROW THEM AWAY! The reasoning behind this is that you could recreate them if needed.

So what does that mean for you? A lot of extra steps if you continue this workflow. :o

The only way that I can see you might save some work is if rather than exporting your files as TIFFs, right click on your selected images and choose EDIT in CS2. From here you only have one option, Edit a copy in CS2 with LR edits applied. Tick the box that Autostacks the TIFF with the original. Now when you finish your edits in CS2 simply save the TIFF files, DO NOT so a Save As. Now LR will recognize the updated TIFFs with no need to re-import the files. Run the batch processor to create your JPEGs but at this point you do not need to import these files again because the TIFF files are already in LR.

I'm with Mike on this one. This is my workflow, almost to the "T".
