Interesting picture. That dude looks intense! IMO, you did a good job of capturing and portraying 'mood'.

Although you say it feels washed out, check out the original that I had to deal with:

Also, I tried adding some contrast to it, but with the light in the background it made it look unnatural with too much contrast.
