Back garden flowers

Here are some of the flowers we have in the backyard that I would like to share and get some opinions on.
Hybrid Tea Rose named Double Delight.
(XT with 70-300: 170mm, f/5.0, 1/1600, ISO 200, Auto White balance, without flash, shot in raw edited and converted in CaptureOne)

I like the first image with the colors, angle and BG but I think a little more DOF on the flower would have helped ( F-8 would likely have done it) and compensating the exposure by -1/3 to -2/3 would have toned down some of the higlites that are on the warm side. With flowers and digital you have an opportunity to check your exposures and then re-take the image. I find the second image needs considerably moe depth of field and the highlites are too warm for my taste.
