Here's (external link) a nice article on Aperture and Lightroom. It might be useful for those who are considering purchasing either of these.

Heheh yeah but with Lr 1.1 just around the corner who knows how long that will be a valid comparison =)

I'm sure they'll coevolve into nearly the same application. Such is the nature of the business. I wouldn't be surprised to see Aperture on the Windows platform one day. But maybe not - Apple likes people to buy their machines. I suspect the market will determine this.

Yet, Apple has now released both ITUNES and SAFARI to the windows platform... who knows what could happen?

Of course, both of those releases were to help sales of other products: the IPOD, and the IPHONE, respectively. If apple starts making dSLR's then we'd see Aperture for SURE on windows.

But the switch to intel based processors, some have speculated, could lay the groundwork to eventually abandon their OS and become more of a hardware vendor. - I don't give this theory too much credence. (is that proper usage of that word???)
