The Rumours section is not allowing new posts ? Moderators, pls move this if necessary.

Actually I'm a bit nervous about posting this as last time I posted re: Nikon ,I got some strange replies.....

However, living dangerously here goes:

Nikon is rumoured to be announcing thier new D3 camera and quote; " it will blow anything Canon has produced so far Out of the Water "....

Now, I find that a pretty bold statement in light of the Mk3, either that or it must be a hell of a camera !!

I got this from 2 reasonably reliable sources and wondered if anyone else had heard anything ?

Either way there is supposed to be some sort of official statement on the 26th of this month....... so we will see.

great news if its true - anything that might bring MK3 prices in UK down more quickly would be nice. Nikon dont make a MPE65 so of no interest otherwise

OF COURSE Nikon is going to push their product. Wouldnt be all that fantastic if they admitted Canon was better than they were;)

i highly doubt nikon has made such a camera, but then again, Id like to see me proven wrong.

Live view, 3" screen, ISO 6400, that's about all they could manage to copy off the 1D MKIII.

I read something else that said july 5. who knows. However if it brings down the price of some of canons dslr's im surely not going to complain

The D3's been rumor since 2005 w/ those specs and as usual Nikon can't produce the product.

Since Sony now in the market to produce a Pro Body I can't see Sony give Nikon an all new sensor before they get the chance to release it first.

Maybe they are improving their own sensor (LBCAST)? Maybe Nikon feel the D2Xs/D2Hs is enough for most peoples needs?

I'd like them to release better semi-pro lenses e.g 70-200 F/4 VR, 24-120 F/4 VR, 17-80 VR etc rather then compete with Canon on high end camera. Nikon has strong following with the D200 / D80 / D40 atm and most of these cameras are targeted at semi-pro and hobbyist, so it makes sense to make uber lens that doesn't cost more then £500.
