I bought myself some new lenses this week, together with some Kenko extension tubes and a Kenko 1.4X converter. Here are a couple of shots with the 70-200 f/2.8 IS and 68mm of tubes. Any comments gratefully received :)

The 2X converters don't seem to have a very good rep and, unless you have a 1D series camera will pretty much destroy all hope of retaining AF on a longer zoom lens (like my 100-400 or a 70-200 f/4), even with the pins taped. That's why I went with the 1.4X.

For these shots I used MF and focused at the minimum distance. I sat cross-legged on the ground and used a monopod wedged under my nether parts, at a jaunty angle, and then edged my way until I got the best focus I could manage, taking into account the limited DOF. I fine tuned with the MF to get focus right where I wanted and took the shot. I had about four attempts at the yellow flower but nailed the pink one in one take.

Exifs are :
Yellow flower - 150mm, 1/320, f/8, 400 ISO
Pink flower - 200mm, 1/400, f/8, 400 ISO

I love the quality of number two. I think this is a great shot. The colors are nice and the fullness of the subject are great. Good job.
