Cleaning 10d sensor (NOT)

My 10d had spotts Did a search found lots of info here on cleaning sensor. Went to this link http://www.photosol.co​m/ ( Photagraphic solutions) to order Eclipse and Pec pads. They will not knowingly sell Pec Pads to clean sensors ( CCD or Cmos) They say Pec pads are not suited for this. The pads may cause damage and they (Photographis Solutions) do not want to be liable. They will only recommend their swabs!
$4 each.

Ok I've read the links and know how to do it but what do I use now? PS claims to have lots of complaints of Pec pads damaging sensors.

I know I have read where folks here are using Eclipse and Pec Pads, so what is right?

Their swabs are $4 each, of course they'll advise you to use them over Pec*Pads, even though they sell both. I'd order Pec*Pads and Eclipse, and tell them it's none of their business what I'm using them for.

Did you try the Rocket blower yet? I thought I was going to have to clean mine, but the Rocket blower poofed it clean right away. 8)

The Rocket blower? My goodness, all you need is for the local gendarme to see you pulling that thing out of your bag.

I've got a regular bulb blower, how much more powerful is the Giotto Rocket Blower? I have some stubborn dust that's not coming off with the std. blower..

After making fun of Belmondo's Giotto Rocket Blower, I secretly bought one myself. It is one step away from a John Deere Gas-powered leaf blower. Excellent dust removal tool.

BTW, they make a couple different sizes. Make sure you get the BIG mother chicken. That beast really throws out some air.

I'm sold. Looks like I can get it to sheer the bugs and tar off my car too.

Guess where I'm coming back from ? B&H's website, that's right ! I bought the dust (and everything else not tightened well enough) blower... and of course I added the Big-E for my Rebel, and a manfrottto head for my monopod (all of these brought to my attention by the power of the forums)

Yeah, I thought I would have to clean my sensor. Bought the Eclipse and Pec*Pad wipes along with the Rocket Blower. Let's just say I have not needed to open up the Eclipse bottle.

I myelf am partial to the SpeckGrabber Pro. It has a tiny sticky end (no goo, just that funny kind of sticky plastic, like the Colorforms you used to play with as a kid), and you use it (carefully!) to pick off the little bits of dust on the sensor.

You clean the SP Pro, by just rinsing it under a faucet, and letting it air dry. Beats the heck out of using fluids, and leaving streaks on the sensor with swabs, etc.

Frankly, if you manage to get stuff on the sensor that requires cleaning fluids and swabs, you are during something pretty rough with your camera (like dunking it in things, or poking your fingers into the sensor well).

Just plain 'ol dust will come off very nicely with a touch of the SP Pro.
No, I don't own stock in the company, but I really didn't want to go the fluid and pads route for something as sensitive as that sensor.

Just ordered a Rocket Blower from B&H. Was using a baby blower bulb but it was pretty weak and hard to control. Have not really noticed dirt on my sensor, but I don't shoot the sky at F22 either 8) Don't really want to use more drastic means to clean the sensor if not necessary.

I've found some dust will blow off with the blower & other times the blower converts dust specks to dust streaks & I have to use sensor pads & fluid. I've just bought a "speck grabber" but not had to use it yet. If it works then it'll be a mnice cheap simple solution.
