Hello
My knowledge of Luminance Smoothing in Camera Raw is limited. My understanding of it, is that if the image has a high ISO, luminance smoothing can be useful. I have some files that are 800 ISO and I'm wondering if I should be using it and if so, how much?

Thanks again....
Ruth

I almost never use any noise reduction at all. Customers don't care about noise, i've found, unless it's really, really bad. Photographers are the ones who care about noise.

The best way to find out is to try it yourself. The amount you use will depend on the image and the amount of ISO noise in it. The higher the value, the more ISO noise your eliminate. But, by the same token, you will also be reducing image details so you'll need to make a compromise between how much noise you want to reduce vs how much image detail you want to retain.

BTW, to see the effects of Luminance Smoothing, you might want to zoom in on the image 200% or 400%.
