Why are the 'wired' remote release so much more?
I would think a wireless would be more?

I had this same question, but never posted. I usually use a shutter release when using long exposures or large lenses. This means I'm behind the camera and not in front of it. This being the case, I think I'm going with the wired release instead of the remote (since the remote sensor is in the front of the body).

On a similar note, does the CMOS sensor in the DRebel pick up (show in the photo) the infrared of the remote? (I'm at work and can't try it out right now.) My S40 did.

I can't remember which model is which, but one (the long black one) has a switch to choose between immediate release or a 2-second delay. The other (the flat one with the big circle in the middle) only has a 2-second delay.

The RC-1 is the one with more features, like the 2 second delay and I think bulb-mode control, too. They finally are in stock at BH last I looked, after being out of stock for at least a month.
