Here for the last few days I have had a little catch in CS2. When I open the program it loads fine. The minute I click on the first tool or function all the tool wells go blank and I get a message at the top of the screen saying "not responding". If I wait anywhere from 15 seconds to about 2 minutes it will come back up on it's own. I've checked for updates and am good there. Any ideas? EricL

I've had this problem in the past and am not quite sure what I did to fix it. I made sure that I had purged all of my histories. I did a disk defrag on my hard drive and I searched and deleted any *.tmp files in my photoshop folders. After doing all of this it would still do it intermittently but it came back in a couple of seconds on my system.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

Sounds like an add-in went haywire -- Are you running add-ins?

Check to see if you're running low on disk space as well.

If you've just installed any anti-virus or anti-spyware programs, or a program to monitor activity on your PC, remove it, try again.

I curently am at about 35g on the harddrive. This is with a 160g internal. 2g of Ram. Nothing else running except for my current application. Shall I just re-install CS2? I don't really want to lose my personal settings...Or will I? EricL

If you go to re-install, they may have an option for 'repair' or 'update' -- select that, settings should remain. Adobe's pretty good overall with installers, so you may find that a reinstall doesn't slam everything.

Oh, and you can always call Adobe tech support -- that's part of what you paid for with CS2!

One last idea -- Select Window -> Workspace -> Default Workspace --- I've had add-ins screw that all up, resulting in all palettes, toolbars and windows disappearing.
