Hey all,

The 6 straight days of shooting in Utah two weeks ago wasn't enough, so I rode out to Joshua Tree today to catch some early day lighting. I'm glad I did, it turned out to be a pretty decent day of shooting, and the desert heat (over 100 degrees by early afternoon) scared everyone off! LOL

Hope you enjoy!

Too hot for me! How bad was it?

2 Samuel 9:7-8, "So David said to him, “Do not fear, for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your grandfather; and you shall eat bread at my table continually.” Then he bowed himself, and said, “What is your servant, that you should look upon such a dead dog as I?”

The set of photos are beautiful. The clouds made the shots work against the desert landscape. I almost gave up looking due to the site taking to long load (i have dsl).

Ha! It wasn't too bad in the morning, in the mid-80's. By 1:00 it was about 100 though. It was 112 degrees in Palm Springs on the way back, according to the temp display in the car :-)

R Hardman - thanks! I got lucky with the clouds yesterday, I'm glad I went! Love your photoshop quote by the way - that's my personal motto! Thanks again for looking!

Gotta chime in with some perspective on the heat..

110 is cake when humidity is near 0%. It's really not that bad ;) Maybe I've just been in Phoenix too long eh?

I really like the clouds in those shots, good timing.

Nice shots using wide angle. Did you use a CPL filter for these?

It doesn't feel too bad, bu the body burns up fluids and calories at a much accelerated rate. It doesn't bother me much though, as long as I keep hydrated!

all these were with my beloved 20mm f/2.8, whichI actually use a ND filter on for sky shooting. A CPL can produce some really uneven polarization with such a wide angle lens at that time of day. I don't have too many issues with my CPL earlier in the mornings and later in the evenings though.

Thank you both for looking and for the compliments!

Yea, that's one of the reasons why I asked the question, namely, your shots didn't have that typical uneven blue... Good clean images you got there.
