It's all about the photo...or, is it?

I read a lot of posts in the photo sharing sections, primarily to look at some great photos. I've noticed that often the replies to a great photo start out with 'great photo', 'nice shot' and so on. Those replies are mostly accurate.

When a photo is shared and there are multiple pages of replies it is often because the photo provoked an interesting discussion that went beyond the photo itself. Isn't that the mark of a truly excellent photograph?

Depends on what you call an excellent photograph. It could be a controversial subject that provokes discussion but is technically a poor image. It could be the reverse as well.

I've seen threads in the share forums that had multiple pages of responses that did not deserve it, imo. I've seen some other shots that I thought were downright outstanding die after a handful of comments. That is the thing about photography, it is totally subjective in the eyes of the viewer.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

To me - photos should make you think... and that provokes discussion...

Finally getting the hang of this...
