Thanks Robert , It looks promising after I get the hang of it .

If you bought Scott Kelbys LR book he is doing a free PDF that can be downloaded soon .

''just finished writing a special free Version 1.1 PDF update for people who’ve bought my book “The Lightroom Book for Digital Photographers” and we’re working on having it up live by tomorrow. I call this update “My Lightroom 1.1 Update Kit” and the kit is laid out in two page spreads; the left page shows how we used to do a particular task in the original Lightroom 1.0, and the right page shows the new and improved way to do it in version 1.1. It’s a really clean, quick, and efficient way to get up-to-speed fast, and the initial feedback on it has been really terrific. Also, I threw in lots of cool little tips because…well, I just love cool little tips. More on this when it goes live tomorrow. ''

Thanks Don. I am almost through reading the book and the update comes just in time. Should be nice.

BTW did anybody notice that you could rename VCs now? This is awesome. I like to do this when I have multiple size images to be printed (4x6, 5x7, 8x10) I can create the VC and rename the file with a _4x6 for example to differentiate the images and can easily sort my prints when uploaded to Costco.

Yup, I love it!!! I've also really been getting into using the filters to view what I want, and then to sort quickly for slideshows or to get a proof shoot online for a client to see. Helps me see Color or Black and White versions as I need too.

Only downside in either case is I don't think LR actually removes a keyword from the file itself does it?

I haven't had an opportunity to try it yet, but it should if you synchronize your changes back to the files.

And you can scroll past the end of the keyword menu now, great! :)

I noticed that! Maybe its its a side effect of those new endpanels, hmmm? :)

May make fixing my jumbled keywords a little easier now, if I can drag and drop them in the correct heirarchy.

I'll have to check, I thought I read in the documentation that it doesn't actually remove them... but then again, I did speed read it :)

Hmmm..... I had posted a different reply to this, but see it didn't take for some reason. In the meantime, I found the section in the readme.txt that had to do with this:

Metadata can now be updated in the file using the Command(ctrl) + S shortcut
Hierarchical keywords are now stored in XMP. Keywords removed in other editors will not be removed from Lightroom.

It is very confusing as to exactly what it will do with the information so I'll have to do some experimenting. If they're now storing hierarchical keywords in XML (probably because they're not supported in IPTC and they want Bridge to recognize the hierarchy), what do they do with the ones previously stored in the IPTC keyword field?

I haven't got time to check properly right now, but there's a quick way to test this. The XMP files for raw files can be opened in a standard text editor to see exactly what's going on.

On a Mac, by default it is in a folder named Lightroom inside the folder you chose as your main library. Mine resides at: username > Pictures > Lightroom >
