David - Your preview size setting has nothing to do with your 1:1 previews, just your standard size previews. 1:1 previews are generated automatically when you access a folder, at least in v1.0 and I haven't seen anything that says that changed for v1.1.

As Victoria has explained in the past, if you have your preview size set too small and Lightroom needs more pixels for a preview that it has available in your standard preview, it can finish up rendering 1:1 previews.

As I sometimes run in Library mode with the loupe selected and all four panels off 1680 pixel standard sized previews make sense with my 680x1050 monitor.

I agree with the 1680 pixel standard previews (I have mine at 2048 because my monitor is 1920x1200), but my point was that the 1:1 previews will be rendered regardless.

I am liking LR but it still cannot come close to the algorithms that RSP has for its default sharpness . It still amazes me how smooth RSP makes the picture come to life with razor detail . LR cannot achieve this without raising the sharpness level and even then it cannot match RSP.LR is good but when you compare the two side by side you can see the difference. But to be fair, LR has better color then RSP too bad LR cannot have the default sharpening of RSP that would be a killer combinaton.

RSP = Raw Shooter Professional, a now discontinued RAW processing program. It was bought out by Adobe last Summer and put on the shelf. Many of its improvements, but not all, have found their way into Adobe Camera Raw for Photoshop and Lightroom.

I downloaded Raw Shooter Essential when it was still available.

It has a really cool tool called "Magnifier". It can automatically generate a zoomed in view or enlargement wherever the cursor is placed.

Perhaps LR has this, but I can't seem to find it.

LR has something similar, but it only seems to zoom in once with a mouse click, then zooms back out with the second click. I'd like to be able to have the zoom magnification controllable like RSE.

I have a stupid question. I upgraded to 1.1 and tried to import a picture today and the import wasn't there(before it just said import). THere were other imports there and I could pull up the my picture file but when I would try to open pic nothing would happen. I'm not at home right now or I could maybe be alittle more specific. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and maybe help me. I'm new to lightroom and have had a hard time giving up RSP myself. Thanks.

Only if you try to open a photo that was edited in LR. If you send the file to CS2 from LR with the Right Click - Edit in CS2 w/ LR changes then you are fine.

Ok, I still don't quite get this. If I make changes in LR using some of the new sliders and then "send the file to CS from LR with the Right Click - Edit in CS2", will I lose the changes made with the new sliders? If you make a change to clarity for example and then send it to CS2 it's just like you never made the change? I sure hope that isn't right...

No, you don't lose your changes. When you edit in CS2, you are editing a version with your changes in the format (PSD, etc.) that you specify in preferences. You only would not be able to see your the changes you made in LR if you were opening the RAW file that you made the adjustments to.

Something else I just noticed. In the Develope Module if I hide the left panel adn edit an image, then go to a new image it unhides the left panel. Why?
Also, mine is not much faster after all. In fact I think it is slower. Ugh!

Not sure what is going on. Today it seems much faster. So maybe something was going on in the background.

I also started a new catalog today. I did a photo shoot with a friend of mine. His sister is getting married and she wanted some engagement shots so what better way to start a new catalog than a first semi-formal shoot. :D

Ok, thanks for the clarification - now I understand.

All in all LR is better with the sharpening ,clarity is great. I do not understand why the sliders on the sharpening drag though . The others are smoother then Ver 1.

What kills me in the clone and healing tool . I just send it to PSE3 to do so much easier. I mean the LR spots in those tools looks like damn planes on a air traffic controller's screen in LaGuardia Airport . Why do they have all the old ones all clumped up like that . I just hope the fixes remain free . I know a lot to ask !
