There are little quirks and oddities in LR (and LR 1.1) but my take on it is this.

LR is still in its infancy. Adobe is committed to the product and to digital photographers. Sharpening happens to be one area that they just don't really have together yet so I still sharpen in PS but that doesn't really bother me much.

I'm sure there are other programs that give LR a run for the money but I think as time passes more of those programs will fall by the wayside as LR continues to grow and develop.

If you're a long time PS user like me then you might remember very early versions, and it had its problems and features that needed to develop. It might take some time and many interim updates but I really believe that in the next full version upgrade we're going to see major changes and fixes that will speed up work flow and allow you to stay in LR without having to go to PS for much at all.

I can't see Adobe doing any less with LR than they've done with PS, Illustrator, GoLive (now Dreamweaver) and other key programs they produce.

All in all LR is better with the sharpening ,clarity is great. I do not understand why the sliders on the sharpening drag though . The others are smoother then Ver 1.

What kills me in the clone and healing tool . I just send it to PSE3 to do so much easier. I mean the LR spots in those tools looks like damn planes on a air traffic controller's screen in LaGuardia Airport . Why do they have all the old ones all clumped up like that . I just hope the fixes remain free . I know a lot to ask !

  1. I really like the Clarity slider - it still amazes me how it improves the look of an image. Almost don't need sharpening. No problem with any sliders - quick response on my machine.
  2. Clone/healing tool; it takes some practise, and I find I'm getting quite adept at fixing "spots" on flower closeups.
  3. "All the old ones clumped up like that". I interpret this to mean that any existing repair circles show up when the tool is activated; likely to indicate where fixes have already been made.
  4. One thing I dont' like is that a second "fix" can't be superimposed where a previous "fix" exists. The "clumps of circles" exclude subsequent fixes.

When did voluptuous become voluminous?
