Oops... now there is posting on Adobe Forums that this was an accidental release by Adobe and was not intended for public consumption. Surprise...

Oh... and I'm off to bed.

Saw that too, it was by Jeff Schewe: http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx/.3bc445be/13 (external link)

Typical, huh?
I would laugh at the whole Lightroom mess... except I bought it.

Although, what's likely to change in a few days?

Nothing, I expect. Like I posted on Adobe Forums, I feel like I should be leaving some money on the bedside table for Adobe after this evening's entertainment!

Still on my way to bed, by the way...

They've yanked it already, Ed... some of us got it prematurely... watching what's going down at the Adobe board IS amusing as Ifonline said... postings like crazy over there.

Damn I was only few minutes late LOL.
I tried to FTP in and it's the old 20mg install file.

Oh well.

Jeez I must be lucky - I downloaded it twice. But the story is weird:

Just after I saw the post by "ifonline", I went to the site, found it, downloaded, and wrote out copius instructions on how to find it.

I installed it, but the new version wouldn't recognize my data file; something about being corrupted (I used it this afternoon with no problems).

Anyway, I was really stewed, and did a RESTORE in XP. The latest version had wiped out version 1.1. Talk about angry. Went and had supper, stewing all the while.

Came back and undid the restore - now I have LR 1.0, but it won't recognize my data base. Whew. Oh well, the pics are safely stored on the other computer (I run LR on two machines).

Went back to Adobe's site, found the new version and downloaded it again, this time burning a copy to a CD.

Re-installed the new version, but no dice with the database. Made a backup folder and copied the database there, and deleted the database.

Opened LR 1.1 ??, and went through my local network and imported a couple of folders from "home base".

I don't know if it seems quicker, but the Sharpening subroutine includes sliders for the following:

Amount, Radius, Detail, and Masking.

Under Lens Corrections/Chromatic Aberration, there is an additiona slider for "Defringe", and there is an ON/OFF switch for this.

The graphic on the side screens are better - they've made the lettering whiter and is easier to read.

So, I'm up and running and smiling again.:D

Just have to re-import a few thousand pics.

I think I found a bug:

They have changed the Clone/Heal tool quite a bit; when the circle is dragged from the spot to be fixed, there is a live preview on the spot to be fixed, taken from where the "fix" is coming from. So you can click on a "booger", and then holding down the mouse button, drag the circle around to get the "best patch". Previously this was a trial and error procedure. It's really a great improvement.

However - now the bug: Once you have done a patch, and go to change the size of the circle for the next patch, using the slider to change the circle diameter will change the diameter of the patch already fixed. I found a workaround by simply loading up a different image, then returning to the one I was working on. Now the next circle diameter can be changed without affecting the diameter of the circle of the previous patch.

LR doesn't seem any faster on this version - bad news for many of us, although I've personally not found it to be a major problem, just a minor annoyance.

Thanks for the update Glenn.
Now I'm even more impatient to give 1.1 a go LOL.

So, do you mean that you have installed 1.1? That means the 1.1 is already there ..or not?

davidcrebelxt wrote in post #3439828 (external link)
Make sure to backup your catalog(twice maybe) before converting it. The first time mine only brought in about 800 of 6,000 photos... but I made multiple copies before installing 1.1 just in case this happened.

Still no easy search by multiple keywords that I can see... grrrrrr. They could have at least made ctl-clicking work like it should.

I have LR 1.1 up and running on my computer. I saved the downloaded file (as opposed to RUNning it), and also copied it to a CD.

Someone said it was taken off the Adobe site, but I haven't checked for a couple of hours.

I think somebody goofed at Adobe, because I just checked by downloading LR, and it seems to be the small (previous) version; the one I"m using is 31,409 KB when downloaded and saved to the HDD. The "old" one is 22,670 KB.

I have a feeling this hasn't changed since 1.0? The sliders should work with the active spot, so if you haven't started a new one, they'll still be working with the old one.

Quicker way - once you've finished your first patch, start the new one (at the size of the previous one) and then just drag the edge of the new circle to get it the right size.

No, I think there is definitely a change in this tool - I've used it a lot to fix blemishes on flowers, even to remove bugs (ants) that are OOF.

Let me check (I have LR 1.0) on my other computer;

Done - no doubt about it. I highlighted a small spot on a flower (using Heal), and then dragged the circle to get the "fix". The small white spot that I was fixing did not change when the cursor moved to other areas of the image. In LR 1.1 it does. And the bug is definitely there, whereas it's not in LR 1.0; I can change the circle diameter in 1.0 after making one correction without affecting existing circle diameters.
