LR doesn't seem any faster on this version - bad news for many of us, although I've personally not found it to be a major problem, just a minor annoyance.

If this isn't a public release, then there will probably be all sorts of debugging mechanisms turned on, which will slow it down. I will wait to get the official 1.1 release, but it sounds like it will be with us soon :).

If I try to download the trial, I get a "broken link"... Perhaps it is because there is something new coming? ;)

This is getting downright ridiculous!

Now they are offering beta release updated versions it seems. They probably "accidentally" released it to have a lucky few do some bug testing for them.

How in the hell does a MAJOR corporation "accidentally" release a major update to a very popular program where users have anxiously awaited its release? This is such BULLSH*T!!! I don't normally get mad about stuff like this but man I am tired of it. I think we have done enough to promote LR to not be treated like this from Adobe. I know they have no idea who I am, but they certainly know who WE are.

Done - no doubt about it. I highlighted a small spot on a flower (using Heal), and then dragged the circle to get the "fix". The small white spot that I was fixing did not change when the cursor moved to other areas of the image. In LR 1.1 it does. And the bug is definitely there, whereas it's not in LR 1.0; I can change the circle diameter in 1.0 after making one correction without affecting existing circle diameters.

Thanks - Mac or Windows?

Hey, just chill! There are bigger things in the world to worry about!

The accidental leak wasn't planned. It was sheer fluke that someone was watching that particularly download link at the exact time they tested the download mechanism, and it got spread all over the web like wildfire. But surely that, in itself, tells you how close the final release is!

If it makes you feel any better, Mike, I got it, and am underwhelmed. I think I was reasonably hopeful... frustrated, yet hopeful. That they would get things right, or complete, or whatever you want to call it, just doesn't quite seem that way to me. Didn't think I was asking for much wanting the AND functionality to work as it should, but what do I know, I only USE their software??

Adobe is ready to be pushed off their ladder... just too bad there's no one else around with a step-stool.

Of course there is, but I don't discuss those on this forum. On here though, this is the biggest thing I have to worry about. ;)

I don't get this. Why is it that nobody has figured out how to test this kind of stuff OFFLINE. Surely they could test locally or even place it on a hidden page where they need the exact URL and not use the actual download page.

Maybe we are close, but if it is two weeks from now this won't look like an accident, will it?

Victoria:

Windows version.

Incidentally, it was probably on their site for at least an hour. As I noted above, I had downloaded and installed it, then discovered it wouldn't recognize my data base. I then restored my computer to a time prior to installing, but the update deleted 1.0 which I couldn't seem to restore. I then went and had my evening meal, cleaned up the kitchen (to cool off), and returned and downloaded it again, this time copying a copy to a CD.

It's now up and running on my machine.

I might have the only CD copy in existence, other than Adobe.

Let me say this - if all they fixed was the Clone/Heal tool, I would be quite pleased with it. I've removed some ants from a flower petal that are just barely noticeable when looked at by zooming in twice (Ctrl +, Crtl +). And if you didn't know where the ant was, you wouldn't find the spot.

I really can't comment on the sharpening as I have only used Elements 5.0 and this for a very limited amount of time several months ago. When news of the improved sharpening in LR 1.1 was announced, I simply left sharpening undone and waited for 1.1.

It might be laziness or no desire to go back to PS 5.0, or not wanting to have to convert my files from CR2, but I'm likley just going to do sharpening in LR 1.1 provided that other users comment favourably on its effectiveness.

I have really taken to the controls in LR for all other operations though, so having good sharpening would make it the full package for me.

YES! :D I can guarantee 1.1 works with the Mark III (it's included the updates from ACR 4.1, which included Mark III support)

Victoria,

Having seen David's frustration about lack of improvement to the cataloguing, which wil be shared by mine when 1.1 is finally released, can you offer us any inkling that the Adobe Team have taken this on board as a serious issue or is the view that the existing interface works well?

Al, I'm not at liberty to go into details yet, but we will discuss further once it's officially released, ok?

OK.

A'll i'm wondering .. whether 1.1, 1.2 or 2.0 is whether Adobe really thinks this is worth looking at or whether we are wasting our time making the point that the functionality already exists in an Adobe product!
