OK.

A'll i'm wondering .. whether 1.1, 1.2 or 2.0 is whether Adobe really thinks this is worth looking at or whether we are wasting our time making the point that the functionality already exists in an Adobe product!

I'm trying to make the case in the feature request section there, but it seems that some people don't understand WHY you want to an AND search... or fail to understand that you could have both a find panel AND make interactive checkmarks next to the tags. I'm to the point now where I just have to shake my head.

The Adobe forums are full of fan-boys and girls that think Adobe can do no wrong.

Very true. It gets difficult to read where people slam those that are frustrated or angry over Lightroom. I often find myself thinking aloud that if I acted like those that represent Adobe (and I don't mean that they necessarily work for Adobe) I would be fired in a heartbeat. A very rude forum, to say the least.

I seriously think that most of them have never touched Elements... it's probably too "beneath" them, and "can't be taken seriously."

And the one I'm talking to the most over there doesn't even USE keywords.

I'm hoping that maybe the pre-release build I'm using just doesn't have it in there... but I'm seriously doubting it. And I have a feeling that there won't be a 1.2... that just doesn't seem Adobe's way... after this fiasco they're likely to regroup and start working on the next $$$ build of Lightroom... the question is, will I shell out the $$$ again?

David, if it makes you feel any better, one of my next projects, once 1.1 is released and I have a little more time, is to go back through all of my personal photographs and keyword them, so keywording will get a decent workout. So.... talk me through exactly what you like better about Elements keywording (which version? I may even install it again!), and how you think LR's keywording could be improved.

Have fun and good luck Victoria! :) I had to do about 15,000 images and so far am about half way through. I do make sure that all my new images are keyworded though.

EDIT: This is not a dig on Adobe BTW, it just takes a while.

True, I lost most of my keywords once to a hard-drive crash (luckily had backed up images, but not catalog.)

Took a months worth of evening to re-tag everything.

Basically Victoria, its the simplicity in Elements of doing an AND search using the checkboxes next to the keywords:

Say I have 1,000 images tagged with chicago, and I know there's this one that has Joe and Emma in it. but I have another 1,000 pictures with both joe and emma at various other places.

I click on Joe tag, I click on Emma tag, I click on Chicago tag, and boom, I've narrowed my search to just 3 images.

But hey, there's this one image in chicago with Joe and me... I turn off the emma tag, turn on my tag... and boom there's the image...

No typing in the find box, no ctl-clicking.... just simple, and slick. And the checboxes give easy visual feedback to what's active.

LR defaults to an OR search when selecting multiple keywords, So I'd get 1,000's of images instead of just a few by selecting those same keywords. and I find it difficult to tell which ones are currently active.

I'm using PSE 3.0, but 5.0 works the same too.

Thanks Victoria... I know you probably don't have much say in what happens one way or the other; but you are one of the only Adobe contacts (employee or not) I've seen who patiently listen and look into things... thank you for that.
