It's a fairly major rewrite, hence the full reinstall rather than just a patch. Download from any of the download locations (even the trial download is the same) and install. It removes 1.0 and installs 1.1.

Backup - your library, for sure. Probably not a bad idea to backup any presets, although I haven't heard of any reported errors on that.

Do you need to re enter your licence key if it spots an existing 1.0 install?

I would assume not Al, but don't quote me on it.

I didn't have to re enter my license key.

The sharpening controls are excellent. It's what you find in ACR 4.1, but I didn't take a serious look at it when it came out. Also the clarity (or "pop") slider is quite interesting. Not something I'll use a lot in portraits and stuff, but for other things, it will give it an interesting look.

So I wonder why the ReadMe file refers to the license key then?

Quick question - I see that Lightroom 1.1 requires ACR 4.1 - and it notes that ACR 4.1 is compatible with Photoshop CS3

Is it also compatible with CS2 - and will CS2 continue to work with the p[revious version of Camera Raw - or is this just a back-door way of getting my money for a CS3 upgrade as well?

CS2 cannot read any of the new ACR 4.1 / LR 1.1 sliders HOWEVER ACR 3.7 in CS2 can read the sliders which it could before.

Standard sliders such as exposure, shadows, brightness, contrast, etc. behave normally. It can also convert using the highlight recovery and fill light slider settings, even though you can't see those sliders in ACR 3.7.

It can't use the new sharpening sliders, but it does convert the new sharpening amount slider to the ACR 3.7 sharpness slider, so everything carries on basically as it did in 1.0. The new clarity slider etc has no effect on the ACR 3.7 conversion.

OK, thanks Victoria.

So, if I choose to "Edit a copy in CS2 - applying the changes made in Lightroom (v1.1)" from Lightroom (if you get me) - does it then get displayed correctly when I come back to Lightroom and view the auto-stacked copy?

I didn't on my copy Al.

Note to those who care:

The update to the Noise Correction works great in helping eliminate Posterization.

Should do - it's the ACR compatibility which has changed

Has anyone had an issue importing their library from 1.0? It initially wouldn't import it when the upgrade finished. I then tried to get it to open again and it brought something in after the conversion. However, the database was an old version. I had a recent import which was several months old. Moreover, none of the catalogs I had created were there and I have shots from my two bodies on two separate drives in the computer and only one of those showed up. The 20,000 shots from the other body are not there at all.

Does any of this sound familiar to those of you that have done the upgrade and any suggestions as to whether I have done something here myself. I do have a back up of the database just in case and actually duplicated it and tried again with exactly the same result.

Just did the upgrade and edited a photo again that was previously edited in Lightroom 1.0.

The difference was amazing, especially in the sharpening and noise reduction areas.

Makes me want to go back and edit all my pics again...

I'm a bit confused here. Does it mean that, if I am using CS2, I can't use all the facilities in Lightroom 1.1?

I'm very jealous of all of those who have the upgrade - I've just tried, only to be told that the site area is temporarily unavailable!

Okay, I am truly an idiot so if anyone is looking at my concern from above, stop now. This is embarrassing but the symptoms should have given me the clue earlier. I originally had the database in the My Pictures folder on the C drive but then moved it to another drive. Lightroom looked in the obvious place and admittedly so did I. Now using the right database (which took ages to convert by the way) and all is looking better. Please forgive the foolishness.
