It should work for both.

EOS R6 Mark II - Sigma 50/1.4 Art - Sigma 14-24/2.8 Art - Canon EF 70-200/2.8L Mark III - Godox Xpro-C - Godox TT685C x2

No complaints or trouble as such.

the only thing to watch out for is PA-2 focus mode as mentioned above. the focusing works and it locks on to a moving target but then when you fully depress the shutter button nothing happens.

But as Guillermo Freige discovored there is a way to get it to work: hold the button down to focus as normal, but when you want to take the shot instead of pushing all the way down first let go of the button and then quickly push it all the way.
If you plan to use this mode to take some critical action shots be sure to practice a bit first as it can take a bit of practice to get it to work every time.

other than that I am very happy with the firmware.

oh, and changing the language locks up the camera! I accidently went into the language menu and selected english (it was already set to english) and the camera froze. I was shitting myself for a few seconds as turning the power switch off had no effect. Luckily removing the batter returned things to normal and no problems since.

Regards, arum.

Reading this thread, I'm getting an impression that installing this hack is a low risk, but is there a way to go back to the original firmware?

A couple of questions here too, rather than start a new thread.

Still learning the fuctions on the dRebel, my 1st (d)SLR.
I've read pretty much most of the posts here reguarding this hack. Many seemed pleased to have "Mirror Lockup", while I don't even know what it is/does. What do you use this for, is it something that you would use often?.

Also, if I applied it, is "everything" changed from how it is in my manual now.
I've seen posts where they tell people to D/L the 10D manual. Would I need to be referencing things in two manuals (10D and rebel) ?.

Does anyone know if the author is finished with this, or do they continue trying to make it better.

Mirror lockup is used for long exposures. With it enabled, you'll flip the mirror up separately from releasing the shutter, so the mirror slap-induced vibration has a chance to die down before you actually take the picture.

I wouldn't be surprised if Canon somehow "helped" Wasia in releasing this hack. I know of a lot of computer companies that cater directly to the hacker/enthusiast crowd by putting all these good tweak capabilities in their products - think overclocker motherboards, "unlockable" CPUs, Lego Mindstorm units, etc., etc. I think just the buzz surrounding the hack and all the free publicity and chatting on the Internet more than makes up for any lost sales of 10D or 20Ds Canon had in mind.

Is it possible that the 300D hack is actually a marketing ploy by Canon?

Maybe ?!

Just installed the hack in my 300D following your instructions and recomendations. It was simple and it gave me the FEC (among other things...)

Thanks!!!! 8)

Been holding out on the hack for 4 months now. Now that my camera is broken in nicely, I just hacked it and it couldn't be any easier! Nice work! Mirror Lock up and FEC are two big things I'm looking forward to use! ISO 3200 is pretty cool too. The other stuff will have to wait. I'm still a newbie.

Thanks!

James

I just did the hack and what am I supposed to notice differently ? to me it's all the same maybe I didn't do something right. But all my settings are still the same.

And if it were there wouldn't I see 3200 in the ISO ? it's just still 1600 there no 3200. So what did I do wrong. It said Firmware Replaced Successfully at the end of it. And I went in to menu and check there and it has Firmware Ver. 1.1.1

But it never did go to the complete the firmware update by pressing the "SET" button it just went back to the blank screen. So can someone help me out here. What do I did to do? Help PLEASE !

Hi Gail, if you press the 'iso' button if the latest hack firmware has been installed then you should be able to select iso 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600 and H where H is actually iso 3200. Otherwise the firmware hasnt installed.

Terry

Thanks Terry for the help. I'm downloading it again. Don't think I downloaded the right firmware the first time. But I don't have the H iso 3200
so it didn't install. Think I downloaded the ver. I had already it just overwrite it. It's taking a lot longer this time than the first DL.

I'm just now at 68% and it has been going for 20 min's I only have dial-up so It's SLOW..lol But I will eventually get there I HOPE. Thank You, :-)
