Candid portrait?

What do You think about this?

I like it - makes me wonder what she's thinking.

Good if you know her but if you don't just so so BUT what do you think of making a post card and sending them out to people who know her.

I will bet from the people you send this picture you will get a high grade.

Its getting very easy to make a post card with a Computer Printer and some 4 x 6 photo paper from Staples.

I apologize for replying to a question you are asking of someone else but...

The photo is nice but if you don't know her then the photo is just okay. There is nothing particularly stunning about the photo or something that would make you stop and look at it for awhile. It is simply not captivating enough. Don't get discouraged though what you are trying to do is extremely difficult. I too like candid portraits and that's the challenge how to make a photograph interesting to those who are not related to the subject.

Technically speaking, the backround does not contribute to the portrait and I would compose a little more to her left, our right or I would turn the camera and do a true portrait composition. IMHO

The photo was shot at a Carnival Parade with a lot of people so the circumstances was not ideal and the time to get the photo extremely short - I literally only had seconds to make a decision.

I would try a little PS manipulation and turn the background black and
white. This would make it less distracting and really bring out the colors
in your subject.

I am trying this, what is the easiest way to get the color on the thin hairs correct? Do I really need to zoom to 2-400 % and use a brush of 1 px on each single hair (I am just talking about the hair thats sticking out). Or are there a simpler way?
