Seems like an obvious one, but to use my blower on the sensor I have to lock up the mirror and open the shutter for long enough to get the job done, right? Is there a way to get at the sensor without it actually recording an image?

Check the menu on your camera (need to NOT be in the Basic Zone) for a Sensor Clean entry. Activate that and it'll hold the mirror up and the shutter open until you turn the camera off or run out of power. Jon
