Again, as a few months back a tad unrelated to photography aside from the fact it is going to set a purchase of a 5d back but...

What sort of a guide price am i looking at to jig the rear tail loop and about half a foot or less of the rear end of the chassis on a peugeot 106 back up to straight. Its not much to jig so just straighteninng the tail loop mainly.

And possible again, how much am i looking at to fit a second hand bumper, Is it a long job? the garage charges £40 an our labour.

Any advice on what this is going to cost me would be much much appreciated.

Cheers chaps :)

x

p.s sorry mods for the little photographic relation, but i figure people on here are so helpful with other things, they may be good use in helping me budget for what could be called as quite a critical situation.

not atall. It's bent down cause someone went into it. I need the tow loop and 15cm or so of the chassis 'jigging' or straightening back to straight. Not jig SAWING.
Hah,

Now that really wouldd be pointless.

I just want to see if theres any mechanics on here that can tell me how much a small ammount of jigging like that should cost.

If you can still drive it and it'll pass it's MOT then keep driving it. Otherwise, junk it and get something else.

thing is, the bumper (cause of the tow loop) has been bent down, so whenever you load the car fully, the bumper touches on the tyres. So it kinda needs doing. And im not junking cause it was just bought for 750 and its worth a fair bit more in its great condition.

GRRRRR i hate crap drivers who dont know how to use their brakes.

It won't be cheap, I can't remember the exact cost to straighten my bro's clio, it's pretty labour intensive and that's where the cost comes from. There's a good chance it'd end up costing as much as the car is worth.

You could be better off breaking the car and selling the parts on ebay, then having the bodyshell taken away. With the money buy a new car :)

Honestly, that'll be so expensive that it really is worth junking the car and getting another.

It's not my car to junk. It's my brothers and he refuses to junk it, claims it was my fault and i should pay for it.

Well, you have dispute there. I suggest you sort it out with your brother - either give him what the car's worth or tell him to take a hike!

If you borrowed it, you need to give it back to him in a suitable state.

Why no insurance from the guy who went into it?

I know i need to give it back to him. Im not disputing it. He went into it whilst parked and legged it.

Dont know where you guys have been getting jigging done, but just to tug the tow loop and back of the frame up, i've been quoted between 100 and 150.

Not bad atall :)

Cheers for all the help though .

Hmm.... There's an insurance company fund to cover uninsured drivers. I wonder whether that could be applied here?

I was insured, i was perfectly allowed to be driving the car. ~I was covered and had permision.

Thing is, i really dont want to claim as that way i wouldnt be able to afford to get another car for the next 5 years. With a claim on my record as an 18 year old driving for 1 year, no company will touch me again.

Granted you wish to protect your future insurability by not making a claim but can you explain ~ the guy that 'legged it', was it a stolen car and if so why aren't the police involved in catching the guy and if the this was the situation I also thought there was a fund for such "no fault" claims i.e. your insurance record remains blemish free because the "thrid party" in this case the special fund paid for repairs - do get some advice possibly from the CAB.

In respect of the repairs if the damage is bad enough that the the rear end has been folded down to impact on the rear wheels when loaded then you are talking about substantial deformation of the rear end crumple zone. Yes, it is possible to repair such damage on the cheap but I would never wish to be a passenger in it because the thing needs "professionally" repairing to safe standard such that it can sustain another such impact without endangering the occupants. This sort of damage also causes ripples in the rear wheel arches and in the worst case scenario will affect the suspension & handling unless repaired the required standard. Apologies if I missed the info but have a bodyshop looked at and quoted or have just phoned asked for a quote sight unseen?

Sorry if that 'rains on your parade' but I am old enough to remember the spate of "cut & shut" cars a number of decades ago that looked 100% outside but split open like a can of beans in the next accident.

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p
