Last night, I finally downloaded the xti program so I could open RAW files in photoshop. I took a couple pictures just to see if they would open. They did... and when I went to "save as" there was an option to save them as jpg, so I did.

Today, I take some more in RAW and now when I go to "save as" there is no longer a jpg option. I don't know what to do! Please help!

Gear List - Rebel xTi; Kit Lens 18-55mm; Canon 75-300 mm f/5.6; 2 batteries; 8 GB of CF cards; Canon 430 EX flash, diffuser, lens hoods, couple Uv filters

Do you have any layers? Is your image 16 bit?

Yes, I saved it as 16 bit and yes, I made a duplicate layer. I also made layers last night but did not save them as 16 bit.

JPEG can not be saved as 16-bit, but can be saved with layers. Therein lays your problem. Convert to 8-bit by Image > Mode.

Ok, thanks. Also, if when I open the file in RAW a caution yellow thingy with an exclamation point comes up, what does that mean?

It means that ACR is creating the file. When it is "ready" the yellow warning goes away.

Aren't you smart :-) So, you're in Charlotte, huh? I used to live in Charlotte years ago. I am in Winston now. What do you shoot?

:) I just read a lot about this stuff. ;)

Yup, just outside of Charlotte. Currently I just shoot for fun, family stuff, wildlife, etc. I am looking to get into some paid work though, wherever I can.

Oh, I didn't realise you'd become the forum content police, Mike - I'll remember to run my every last thought past you in future, to see if it was worth having.

I take it that your sense of humour transplant didn't take?

;)

Thanks, glad you see things my way now. Since I am not always at my computer it might take some time for me to let you know if your post is ok to submit.

As far as my transplant goes I guess it didn't take. Most here would say that my sense of humour is just fine, though. So maybe it is your sense that is off. Perhaps you care to explain your first post so that next time I might "get it".
