I'm considering purchasing a Velbon Monopod. It appears to be very convenient to take just about anywhere--especially on trips. I have a tripod which I use occasionally but see the Monopod as more mobile. Can folks share their experience with the Monopod? Does it work well? Thanks

I had a Velbon tripod once & it fell apart. :( I have been using a Bogen tripod & monopod for about ten years. A monopod is a good idea. It's a lot easier to carry than a tripod. I use mine as a hiking stick when I'm out in the woods.
