So I found this young fellow taking a nap while mom was off grabing a bite of lunch…

They are so beautiful and the sounds they utter as they call for mom, gosh, I could listen to them for days. I am so thankful we have Yellowstone and wild things left in the world.

That's and elk? I would have thought it was a deer by the spots.

What a Beautiful baby :) I have been camping in the mountains once during rut season....what an amazing amount of noise these guys make.

Love your nature photos, RJ... I miss them when you aren't around.

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

Hello Maureen! Always good to see/hear from you and yours. This is taken with my 20D and 100-400 at the long end. 5D is a wonder to work with as well…

Gooble, yes it is a elk calf. They are spotted when very young, much like fawns, but a tad bigger. Of course I only saw his mom, I am not sure of who the father is? But I think it to be an Elk as well.

Nicely seen and it is a good captivating image. Certainly looks sleepy :)

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p

What a beautiful and peaceful shot...I'm jealous of the photo ops you get and of where you live! I want to retire there...but my wife says no...but I've got another 25 years to convince her otherwise...

Nice capture, so lucky to have wild places near your home.

Stunning shot.

PS. Any shots of the mother.

A load of Canon Gear.
