you have to wait for the update (lightroom 1.1)
it would be available 'soon'

Thank you. Scott Kelby, who gave the Lightroom seminar, stated that 1.1 will be a free upgrade and will be available very shortly. The sooner the better, I say.

For our friends in Europe.... or at least in the Netherlands.

I have placed an order a little over a week at redcoon (price went up 350 euros since!!!!).
They were expecting a batch of cameras to come in last friday (the 15th).

I called today and I've been told nothing came in, and the expected delivery date (to them) is now early July.

There was no mention of a recall or anything last this. That said I had no explanation as to why the distributor did not send them the batch as promessed....

Has anyone received one recently in Europe ?

BREAKING NEWS (New York): Sources at B&H Photo in New York inform this poster that his MIII is being shipped today for overnight delivery. When asked to comment, 1080iAddict states he "is pleased that this %$#*&^ing camera is finally on its way to my office considering my %$^#*& American Express card was already charged." Asked whether he has any animosity toward B&H, 1080iAddict responded "not at all. The MIII is in high demand, and considering the AF can't track BIF it will be a paperweight anyway." 1080iAddict next says "he was kidding so relax. I am PSYCHED. FINALLY!!!!"

In a recent update to this Story, CDS is expecting is $4K+ paper wight as well.. :)

GRRRR !!

I ordered mine May 27 from Calumet - at that time the website listed 2-9 days delivery .. well, it's listed the same until about a week ago where it now states 6-8 weeks :(

I call every other day .. and they tell me the same thing. They're now filling orders from March / April.

I've called B&H and Beach ... I need to find a 'more local' local store and see if I can get my grubby hands on one ...

I Email'd Canon.
I have been intrested in getting a 1dmk3 my main intrest is bird's in
flight such as gease - duck's - dove's .
Over the last couple of weeks there have been quite a few report's by
photographer's that know what there doing and indeed own the 1dmk2
-Saying the AF is not as good.
i have the 1dmk2 and 5d plus many L lenses but do not want to buy
another camera ( 1dmk3 )if it is not ready yet owing to an AF problem as
that would be my main reason for getting it.
To my question - does the 1dmk3 have a problem or is it safe to buy it
??
and if so when will it be available in the UK.
regards
Rob.
there answer
Dear Rob:

Thank you for contacting Canon USA product support. We value you as a
Canon customer and appreciate the opportunity to assist you.

There are not any problems with the autofocus with the EOS 1D Mark III.
Although we here in the USA don't know when the camera will be available
un the UK Canon UK should be able to assist you. You can reach them at
www.canon.co.uk (external link) .
anyone know Canon's email address in the UK i carn't find it :(

already out in the UK but they go as soon as they come in so if you havent preordered you may have a while to wait. I saw my first one in action this evening at Wimbledon qualifying. I asked him about the AF - he said simply it was 'amazing'.
M 20D's 5fps sounded terribly slow and noisy by comparison!

On another note, I am sure you knew full well that B&H, while admittedly different than for example Adorama, states right up front that your credit card will be charged when the order is placed.

mark

Yes, I was aware of that and they were very upfront. I was more basking in the scenerio that i would be out of pocket and have nothing hanging around my neck. But its all good now. In fact, the very anticipation of the delivery is almost better than the camera delivery itself. Well, not quite....

WAZZA WAIT! can you still return that lovely new kit? if you're coming to thailand cambodia soon, you'll reallllly want that weatherproofing.

Why dont you buy it here and save heaps of money? I just picked my 1d3 up at AV camera (highly recommended on this thread and by me) for a total of $4300 USD after the Vat refund you get when you fly out. doubt you'll be able to beat that price!

I'll send you a PM in a minute and I could do some of the legwork for you over here (I have to go back to AV camera tomorrow to pick up my VAT refund form) as I'd love to help you find that camera if you so choose.

Thanks for the PMs, emails, and awesome information. I regret quickly buying a 5D, after what you've told me.

Now in regards to 1DIII - the camera store phoned me today, said they just got off phone with their Canon rep, and they know "nothing" about shipments etc.
This is a joke.

Asking if I want to cancel my order, I said no. Keep it. Even if they have to send direct to me in UK, I'll take it.. as my photography is more suited to faster frames, and better AF requirements, and noise control.. And white clipping for weddings.

5D will suit me well for Thailand and Cambodia, people and landscapes, but as mentioned, it WILL NOT be good in the water. I already have a KATA 702 bag.. Will have to make that work.

If I had the money I would actually consider it along with a USB GPS. Then the raw files would be tagged with the GPS position. Which I think is much more convenient that tagging the jpegs when at home.
