Got mine too, one battery is 1/3 charged and I;m tweeking CF settings etc..
It's lighter than I remembered, though as soon as the 135mm went on the difference compared to MkII was less noticeable..

10FPS is hilariously fast!
AF is silly fast!
It took me a while (no manual reading yet) to figure out how to get the shutter release to not AF...

So now it's essentially set up like my MkII, but I'm stuck at work.

CONGRAT'S
Now sort out the very best bird in flight settings :) then when i get mine i can ask you ;)

Does anyone remember what happened to the 1D3 users thread where people were posting their settings? I've been doing a lot of testing and would like to compare notes with others.

I've read in several places where people are having AF issues. I haven't noticed anything like that whatsoever, short of User Error (Initially, this was mostly from me shaking the camera as I laughed every time I hear *click*click*click*click*click*click*click*click*click*click*click*click*click*click*click*click*click*click*click*click*click*click*click*click*!!~!!!!

As a quick aside, I've also tested the majority of my lenses and haven't found a reason yet to use the Focus Adjustment features. I haven't tested the macro lenses yet though.

Here it is...... I'm really nervous and excited to try everything out! Just need some more memory cards. Anyone have any suggestions? I have Lexar cards. Sorry so grainy - taken with a PowerShot!

I just bought several of the new 8Gig Lexar cards. Some people have had issues with Lexar cards in Canon cameras. I never have. I have never had issues with Lexar cards (knock on wood).

I had a very (very very) bad experience with a SanDisk card in 2002 and will never use one again. I should probably have gotten over it by now, but I haven't. I pretty much stand alone on this though - the overwhelming majority of folks here use SanDisk cards.

Unfortunately the 1D3 cannot take advantage of the Lexar UDMA technology yet, but some day they will.

Thanks. The first Lexar card I got for my 10D had some problems initially, but I haven't had any problems since then. I see that most folks use the SanDisk cards, so that must say alot about them. I was very curious about the Lexar UDMA cards, but thanks for clearing that up. SanDisk it is!

Hey, let me know what you think of that 16-35, I'm seriously considering that one myself for this camera.

Oh and congrats, will look forward to your work with this.

I just got it and wish I had it earlier. It's a great range when touring a city. I used my 10-22mm on my 20D on my last NYC trip and didn't change to other lenses much, but the 16-35mm range on the 1DM3 would have been much better. I haven't taken advantage of f/2.8 yet, but plan too. It seems pretty sharp and has to be great for event pictures when there's not a lot of room and you want more background and less flash. But as I implied I haven't taken too many shots with it yet.
