Snir if you really want to sell it I would do it while they are still back ordered, i think with your reputation it will go quick and with only 500 clicks $4500 is not out of the question.

I'd agree. The only niggly factor with a used one is the warranty.

that is not an issue btw. i talked to Canon myself before i sold my mkIIn and they clearly stated that as long as the camera is within the warranty period, they will fix it regardless of who the original owner is.

just wanted to know what price is fair for one with 500 clicks on it still like new in the box.

Prices have dropped dramatically over the past two weeks. $5100 new was the standard three or four weeks ago. Now, eBay new ones are dying on the vine with buy it now set at $4999 and even less.

I sold my used one for $4599, I think.

Today, with all factors, I think you could get $4495 for it. Unfortunately, if you do it via eBay, it will cost over $100 plus the PayPal of another $140 or so.

If Canon in fact has stopped production, I think that will add to the demand, not decrease it initially. There certainly seems to be a huge slowdown in M3 availability the past week, so the rumors just might be true. If not for a total fix, they might have recalled those in the pipeline so as to upgrade the firmware prior to shipping.

If I were selling a used one right now, I'd list it for $4599 here, FM, Craiglist (people are doing national searches) as well as a few other Forums like ours (not as good as ours of course!) That would be as good as getting a lot more from eBay.

I wrote eBay last week when I saw someone recovering PayPal fees as part of their listing. I was under the impression that was not allowed. eBay came back and said it was ok. So maybe you might think of doing that and then all you would lose is the listing fee. But I also would bet the winning bidder would say, wtf AFTER the auction's close unless you made that part clear.

So Blonde, how much do you want to get rid of yours?
