I've been looking at telly zoom lens lately and started to wounder when Canon would come up with a 200 - 400 f/2.8 IS then my lens range would finely be covered (I man can dream cant he).

It would be larger than most small dogs. Wanna carry that lens to the zoo with your kids? :)

I suspect never. Sigma has a 200-500 f2.8 in the works though. Even comes with a 2XTC as a package.

I'd be happy if Canon built a 200-400 f/4 like Nikon, seems like it would be a sweet lens

From what I've seen, the Sigma 200-500/2.8 is huge, and would probably scare one or two large dogs too.

Agree 100% - this is the lens that seems to be missing from Canon's lineup. But damn, that's a pricey Nikon lens. 5000 clams

Would it come with a human assistant in the box to help carry this monster?

If you can afford the lens you can probably afford to hire one of those, too, for when you need them..

I wish Canon woudl just get the 120-300 2.8 like Sigma. My Sigma will be here next week. However I would have loved an L in that range.

As for the 200-400 I say start with a f/4.

Don't know if there was an agreement, but I personally call it the torpedo seeing as it looks like one with a camera attached at the pointed end.
