I would appreciate any help regarding...Creating a black and white image from a color image but still keeping the bride's eyes the natural color. I've seen this done so many times but I need help. Thanks, anybody?

Hi Karma

There are quite a few ways of doing it, but the 'quick' way is to duplicate the colour layer - desaturate the top layer, and then zoom in to the eyes and 'rub them out' with the eraser tool using a fairly small and soft brush. If you make a mistake just 'undo' straight away and keep going.

The 'other' way is to create a layer mask with the desaturated layer and paint on the layer mask. What you paint black will disappear, and if you make a mistake change your brush to white to paint in again.

Flatten the image and hey presto!

Have fun

Wayne

If you google "selective color" you'll find a dozen other methods to do it :)

Q related to photoshop CS 2

How do you make an 'Action' ?
I know how to record one, and do a simple task (resize, save as, etc.)
But I saw some people can make a very fancy and complicated action to change color, make frames, or etc.
How do you that ? Do I have to use another software ? Is there any website that could teach me the basic of how to ?
I want to make my own 'complicated' action.

I am fluent with some computer languages, are they needed ?

Thankd for any help

An action is simply a set of steps to do over and over again. So anything that can be done in PS can be recorded into an action. You don't need any special tools or software. You just need to know what steps you want to record.

Now, scripts, on the other hand require some additional work. ;)

I see. Thanks for the info
I am trying to automate locating my watermark. With action, it is just impossible because sometimes my picture is landscape or portrait size and it seems Action alone won't do it.

How do you create script ? Can you refer me to any website that would give just a basic ? Do I need to use any other software ?

Thank you very much.

I can't help you with the scripts part, but try google. As for the watermark action you could create 2, one for each orientation. Also search here and goolge for watermark as there are tons of threads and websites that can help with that. I know I have seen a ton on here.

You guys are awsome. Thanks for the help. I did a rather nice environmental portrait of a young woman and tried it in black and white and it looked good. Her eyes are quite striking, hence the question. Thank, all: Tony
