Last week, I went backpacking some some buddies at Emigrant Wilderness, in Stanislaus Nat'l Forest. Of course I had to bring my SLR :D Here's a couple pics of the night sky on the first evening out. C&C appreciated!

Thanks Tim, I like #1 best, but they are all excellent in my book.

Great pictures! :)

I personally like the second one the best. I like how the stars reflect in the lake water, with the sillouette of the trees and the just perceptable shoreline.

By the way.....would you by chance mind posting the EXIF data for the first two pictures? :)

Great pictures. I'd like to know the tech behind the shots.

They were all taken at 18mm, 1600 ISO, f/3.5, and 30secs. Timer was used, didn't bring a remote. PP involved noise reduction, and a little bit of sharpening. The colors you see are almost straight out of the camera, saturation was bumped only minimally. The red stuff you see on the left is the Milky Way. It really was a great night for star gazing, we never see anything like this in the Bay Area with all our smog.

I personally like #2 most bc of the composition and the reflections, but #1 is great because its just got so many stars! Thanks for your comments, all. Constructive criticism is always welcome too ;D
