I am a rebel XTi owner and i have afew questions concerning color in photos. Most of the photos i see shot with any camera, but the XTi certainly included, have GREAT color that jumps right out. I was wondering how i can get similar results on my camera. Does shooting in full auto help with this? I ussually shoot in manual with a standard frame. Does shooting with landscape, portait, custom, or monochrome affect the colors standing out? Also, what about a lense filter inside the camera. I know the XTi allows in manual to put a sepia, blue, etc. filter on, but i cant seem to get that to help the color, it either looks similar, or goes to have an entire blue frame covering the photo. Any help/ reccomendations!?

I realize, this is a lot of questions, sorry, but thanks in advance!

Go into your camera's settings and bump up the saturation a couple notches. That's how I got my color to start popping from right out of the camera.

User defined picture settings on page 81 of your user manual.

the problem (or perk depending on how you look at it) is that canon duplicates true-to-life colors better than any camera im aware of. most people are looking for super-saturated colors, so the canon requires a bit extra work to do so.

you have 2 real options. you can either bump the saturation in the color profile (easy to do and works on jpegs without post-processing), or you can do what i do and shoot RAW. then just open up your software on your computer (i use APPLE's Aperture software alongside photoshop myself) and play with it there!!!

It's on the same page in the XTi's (400) manual.
