I originally posted in this thread, https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=280062 , about my experience with Eclipse2 on a 5D sensor. I tried using the Eclipse2 again with similar results, smears and residue from the Eclipse2 on the sensor. While I wouldn’t blindly recommend this, I was able to clean the smears by carefully breathing into the chamber to add condensing moisture on the sensor and gently wiping with a clean PecPad on the spatula.
I redid the test of a drop on a UV filter and there was some residue left after evaporating, it was just difficult to see on the clear filter and I may have missed it the first time I tried it. Repeating the test on an ND 0.9 filter left the same residue, just easier to see. Using a PecPad on the spatula as recommended for the sensor left the same smears and spots when the spatula was stopped. I'm convinced at this point that either the Eclipse2 is contaminated or it doesn't evaporate as cleanly as Eclipse. I have used the Copperhill method with original Eclipse on my 20D successfully in the past, smears and residue were never a problem.
Original Eclipse has been ordered and should arrive next Tuesday. I'll also try the evaporation test on the ND filter for comparison. I’ll post the results after my next cleaning attempt.

. I've tried a dry PecPad on the swab and it didn't do anything except move particles around. At least it didn't do any damage
